One of the final steps that must be done before Disney Vacation Club points can be sold for a new DVC resort is to have its master declaration filed with the local County clerk. Disney’s Riviera Resort achieved that important step on February 25, 2019, when its master declaration was recorded with the Orange County Comptroller.
Now that Riviera’s master declaration is recorded, when can we expect sales to begin?
The simple answer is: We don’t know. All we can do is look at the timelines for other DVC resorts that have debuted in the last few years to see how long it took for sales to begin for those resorts.
The chart below shows the times for the three most recent DVC resorts that have opened at Walt Disney World. Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows had its master declaration recorded on January 7, 2015, and Disney released sales information, including a point chart and price list, the next day. Sales for Polynesian started on January 12, 2015, only five days after the master declaration was recorded.
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge wasn’t as quick the Polynesian, but sales information was released eight days after its declaration was filed, with sales starting 15 days after the declaration.
Although the Polynesian and Copper Creek had short delays before they started to sell points, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort had a much more lengthy gap between the filing of its declaration and the start of sales. Grand Floridian's declaration was recorded on March 28, 2013, but sales information was not released until May 20, 2013, and sales did not commence until May 23, 2013, 56 days after the declaration was recorded.
If the Riviera follows the timelines of Polynesian or Copper Creek, sales might start any day now. However, if it follows the timeline for the Grand Floridian, sales might not begin until mid April.
DVCNews will report when Disney finally releases sales information for the Riviera and when announces when sales will begin for the newest DVC resort.
