Website WDW News Today is reporting that Top of the World Lounge is set to reopen on the evenings of December 30 and 31, 2021. The story includes photos of a sign posted in the resort lobby which reads as follows:

On December 30th and 31st the Top of the World Lounge will be reserved for DVC Members staying at Bay Lake Tower

For your safety, no more than 499 members will be permitted inside at one time.

Leaving the Lounge will allow other Guests to enjoy the area.

No advance notice accompanied this decision.

This is only the second time the facility has reopened since the March 2020 closure prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2021, the outdoor viewing platform opened for two days around Independence Day. Wording of the posted signage suggests that both the indoor lounge and outdoor viewing deck will be available this time.

Dating back to Bay Lake Tower's 2009 debut, the lounge was open to resort guests on a nightly basis. Several years later access was expanded to all Disney Vacation Club members staying on Walt Disney World property. DVC has not given any indication if there are plans to resume nightly access at any time in the future.
