Extra Magic Hours to be Replaced with Early Entry

WDW Vacation Planning News

Hours of late night access to the Disney theme parks has come to an end, but Disney Vacation Club members and other hotel guests can soon look forward to a revised early entry perk.

For many years, Walt Disney World has alternated early morning entry and late night park access for its resort guests under the banner of Extra Magic Hours. Reduced park hours prompted by COVID-19 prompted Disney to place a hold on Extra Magic Hours. When this perk returns, it will take a different format.

Beginning later in 2021, resort guests--including those staying at Disney Vacation Club villas--will receive an early entry perk at the Florida theme parks. All 4 of the Disney parks will open 30 minutes early, exclusively for Disney resort guests.

Although the start date has not been announced, Disney emphasized that the perk will apply to all four parks on all days.

Extra Magic Hours previously offered early or late entry to a single theme park on a daily basis. Early morning access began one hour before the posted opening time, while late night access offered up to 3 additional hours past the establised closing.

Via the Disney Parks Blog, Disney stated that the new format "helps us better spread visitation across all four theme parks, while providing added flexibility by giving guests extra early park time on each day of their vacation and in the park of their choosing."

Valid theme park admission and reservations via the Park Pass system are still required in order to utilize Early Entry.
