All beach access points in the Vero Beach and Indian River County areas are closed until further notice due to the presence of toxic red tide.

TCPalm.com is reporting that beaches in the area of Disney's Vero Beach Resort are now closed due to the red tide. Latest information suggests the closure could last as long as 10 days, though exact conditions are considered unpredictable.
Red tide the result of an algal bloom caused by a red-tinted variety of dinoflagellates. Tests revealed a red tide concentration in excess of one million cells per liter of ocean water. This level is condsidered dangerous to humans, necessitating the closure of area beaches.
According to the TCPalm report, the number of dead fish lining Indian River County beaches is so high that officials were forced to bring in a bulldozer to assist with removal.
