Direct sales increase 77% in July 2013

Financial News & Pricing

Led by strong sales for the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney Vacation Development sold 365,524 Disney Vacation Club points in July 2013. This represents an increase of 77.8% compared to the previous month's sales of 205,610 points.

For the month, Disney Vacation Development sold 226,439 points for the Grand Floridian. Since sales began on May 23, 2013, DVD has sold 2,331 deeds and 312,433 points for this resort, about 12.4% of its total points.

Approximately 9.3% of the points sold for the Grand Floridian have been for Fixed Week deeds. Not surprisingly, 57 of the 88 Fixed Week deeds sold so far are for the last six weeks in the calendar year, a very popular time of the year when DVC members visit Walt Disney World.

DVC Direct Sales - July 2013

DVD is offering the April Use Year to most new buyers who purchase points at the Grand Floridian. About 26% of all points sold so far have the April Use Year.

Despite the obvious marketing focus on the Grand Floridian, sales for Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas registered a 13.4% increase in sales over the previous month. For July '13, 121,069 points were sold, marking the fourth consecutive month that sales for the resort exceeded 100,000 points.

Animal Kingdom Villas is now 100% declared for the Disney Vacation Club inventory, which means that DVC members have access to all the villas when making reservations using points. So far, DVD has sold about 89.7% of Animal Kingdom Villas' 7.4 million points. Since DVD must retain at least 2% of each resort's total points, it still has about 614,000 Animal Kingdom points it can still sell to the general public.

The sales data includes all eight DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
