Financial News & Pricing

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas had another strong month in direct sales in May 2013 but overall Disney Vacation Club sales slipped 14.4% compared to the previous month. 155,413 points were sold in May '13 for the nine Disney Vacation Club resorts for which sales data is available.

With 122,133 points, Animal Kingdom Villas easily led all DVC resorts in sales for May '13. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa was a distant second in sales with 10,833 points. Disney's Vero Beach Resort, which along with Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort has the lowest base price of $115 a point, was third in sales with 5,923 points. Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort sold only 5,376 points in May '13, the fewest number of points sold since sales began for this resort in September 2008.

Animal Kingdom Villas has sold 86.8% of its 7.4 million points. Since Disney Vacation Development is required to retain at least 2% itself, it has slightly less than 830,000 points that it can sell to the public for this resort. All but 2.9% of Animal Kingdom Villas has been declared for the DVC inventory.

Sales for the "classic" DVC resorts, which were relatively good earlier in the year, slowed considerably in May '13. Disney's Beach Club Villas sold only 945 points, the fewest of any resort. Disney's BoardWalk Villas, which sold 19,635 points in March '13, sold only 2,499 points in May '13.

The sales data includes all seven DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as the Vero Beach and Hilton Head Island resorts. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.

Sales for the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa began on May 23, 2013, but the first deeds were not recorded until June 6, 2013. Sales data for this newest of DVC resorts will be included in next month's report.
