At last week's Disney Vacation Club annual meeting, execs provided attendees with a first look at the large dispensers coming to resorts.
Back in August 2017, Walt Disney World initiated a pilot program to test the use of bulk dispensers for resort bath products including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. In July 2018, Disney confirmed plans to replace the small 1.5 - 2oz bottles with the larger refillable dispensers. The plan is part of a long-term commitment to reduce consumption of plastic products property-wide.
During the December 13 Disney Vacation Club meeting, members received their first look at the new setup. Large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash will be mounted inside resort showers to supply the bath essentials. The transition features a number of advantages including elimination of plastic waste, a greater quantity of each product will be available for use by guests and it is a more cost effective manner of delivering the bath products.
No timeline was provided for the complete roll-out but it is likely the new dispensers will be part of the upcoming refurbishment at Disney's Saraoga Springs Resort & Spa which is scheduled to begin in 2019.
