Disney Vacation Club's Moonlight Magic returned to Disney's Hollywood Studios for the first time since spring 2019. Check out the attractions, snacks and characters which were part of this unique event.
On May 24 Hollywood Studios hosted the first of three scheduled Moonlight Magic nights for 2022. Moonlight Magic is a perk offered exclusively to eligible DVC members and their guests. For three hours following the park's official closing, attendees enjoy complimentary access to attractions, food and other fun surprises throughout the facility.
Hours
Registered attendees may enter the park as early as 7:00pm using their Moonlight Magic credentials. No Park Passes or paid theme park admission are required to enter at this time.
The park closes to day guests at 9:00pm. Moonlight Magic officially runs from 9:30pm to 12:30am. Disney transportation continues to operate during and after the event to assist guests.
Snacks
Complimentary snacks are a hallmark of Moonlight Magic and this event is no different. There are a variety of options to choose from. Upon check-in, members are given a series of vouchers to be redeemed for snacks throughout the evening.
One of the vouchers is redeemable for an exclusive Disney Vacation Club popcorn bucket. The buckets are distributed at 5 locations throughout the park: Neighborhood Bakery, PizzeRizzo and carts located in the Hollywood Boulevard, Animation Courtyard and Center Stage areas.
Additional vouchers are valid for any Disney Dining Plan snack item at restaurant and food cart locations. Eligible venues include Woody's Lunch Box, Milk Stand in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Docking Bay 7 and more. Note that some locations have limited operating hours.
If that isn't enough to satisfy, Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bars and Strawberry Fruit Bars are available at select locations with no voucher required. Distribution points can be found in Echo Lake, Animation Courtyard and Sunset Boulevard.
Oga's Cantina is available for walk-up service, though the snack vouchers are not accepted for any of its menu items.
Complimentary beverages are not offered, however snack vouchers may be redeemed for soft drinks and bottled water.
Characters
Unique character appearances often found at Moonlight Magic events. Disney's Hollywood Studios' features some of the following:
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
- Buzz Lighyear, Woody and Jessie
- Chewbacca, R2-D2, Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers
- Darkwing Duck and Launchpad
- Characters from Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers
Note that some characters are still making appearances in socially-distanced settings.

- Alien Swirling Saucers

- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Expect to wait for attractions, however queue time should be considerably lower than a normal operating day. The queue for Rise of the Resistance closes at 11:30pm.
Other Moonlight Magic features include a live DJ on Center Stage, a dance party in the Disney Junior Theater and a projection show on Center Stage at 11:30pm.
Two more Moonlight Magic sessions are planned for Disney's Hollywood Studios on June 16 and July 14, 2022. Registration for both nights is full and no additional members are being accepted.
Disney's Animal Kingdom will host members on July 26, August 31 and September 28. Registration details have not yet been released, however it is expected to occur later in the month of June.
