Disney Vacation Club donated a mobile movie theater to a South Carolina children's hospital as part of the company's $100 million commitment to facilities nationwide.
Patients at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston can now enjoy a mobile movie theater, courtesy of Disney's commitment to improve the patient experience at hospitals across the country. VoluntEARS from Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, along with Mickey Mouse himself, visited the hospital to celebrate the donation.
The mobile movie theater design is inspired by the Main Street cinema at Disneyland. It is designed to be moved around the hospital to meet the needs of patients and their families. The visit was celebrated with a special screening of 'The Lion King', along with many toys an gifts for those in attendance. Patients can enjoy content from Disney+, along with newer theatrical releases via the Disney Movie Moments program.
The donation is part of Disney's $100 million charitable commitment, in conjunction with Starlight Children's Foundation. Childrens' hospitals across the country receive Disney-themed Starlight Hospital Wear, care packages, toys and games.
