Disney's Riviera Resort, Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel are some of the locations which now support casting of video content from tablets and smartphones directly to resort TVs.
Walt Disney World and Disneyland are in the process of upgrading video technology in many of their resort rooms and several Disney Vacation Club properties have already benefitted from this enhancement.
Upgraded resorts feature new TV splash screens welcoming guests by name, along with custom menus featuring a TV program guide, Disney+ test drive and the ability to cast video from guests' devices to the large screen display.
In order to utilize the casting feature, guests must first connect their smart device to the hotel's Wi-Fi. After doing so, select the "Connect my Device" menu option on the TV main menu. Instructions direct the guest to either scan a QR code or navigate to the web address disney.GetStreaming.TV. Enter the unique 9-digit code to connect the smart device to the room's TV.
Once connected, guests can open any casting-enabled app to send their own video content to the in-room TV. Supported apps include Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, YouTube and more. After launching the streaming app on a mobile device, tap the streaming button. Guests in multi-room villas should see options to send the content to different TVs in the room.
We have confirmed these casting features are available in some--if not all--DVC villas at Riviera, Grand Floridian, Grand Californian and Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. One guest currently staying at Disney's Old Key West Resort reported that techs installed the casting upgrades in his villa earlier this week. Plans reportedly call for a full rollout at Walt Disney World by the end of 2022.
