A trial date has been set for a Disney Vacation Club member accused of accepting money for Walt Disney World vacations that were ultimately not provided.
Ohio resident Lisa M. Andres faces 39 charges including theft, grand theft and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity for failure to provide lodging and other services as promised. In January 2014, Andres was arrested for accepting after failing to provide more than $14,000 worth of airfare, theme park tickets, meals and lodging at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
In what may have been a Disney Vacation Club point rental scam, Andres posed as a freelance travel agent claiming that she could secure low-cost accommodations given her status as a DVC owner. After paying 4 and 5-figure sums to Andres for vacation-related expenses, victims would later discover that arrangements were either materially different than promised or completely nonexistent.
At the time of her arrest, a second victim claimed that more than 50 individuals may have fallen for Andres' scheme.
Andres' trial has been set for a period of two weeks beginning on January 13, 2015 in Butler County, OH. She also faces a December 8, 2014 trial date in Warren County, KY for similar crimes.
