Lobbying group forms
Central Florida business leaders plan to announce today a new lobbying and policy arm for the region called the Central Florida Partnership. The aim of the nonprofit group is to coordinate a strategy for the seven-county area around Orlando that can be presented to policymakers for guiding the region's future. In a Webcast from the group's online site at central floridapartnership.com, the new organization is set to tap current Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce President Jacob Stuart as its head. The group filed paperwork for designation as a nonprofit organization Tuesday with the Florida Department of State, listing a panel of Orlando executives as the group's directors. The list includes Des Cummings Jr., Florida Hospital's executive vice president for business development; Patricia J. Engfer, general manager at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport; C.T. Hsu, managing principal of the CT Hsu & Associates architecture and design firm; and James Lewis, the president of Disney Vacation Club.
