Direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points improved for the third consecutive month, while Disney's Riviera Resort has now experienced gains for five straight months.
Disney's Riviera Resort
In February 2022, 132,368 points were sold for the 11 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World. This represents a gain of 6.3% over January 2022, 19.5% over the previous three months, and 9.7% over DVC sales for the previous 12 months.
Although direct sales seem to be improving they still have a long way to go to reach their pre-pandemic levels. From July 2010 to March 2020 direct sales average 173,756 points a month, 23.8% more than what was sold in February.
Disney’s Riviera Resort led all resorts with 84,996 points sold in February, its best month since 91,885 points were sold in August 2021. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas was second with 11,610 points sold after having sold 11,710 points in January 2022. This marks the first time since January 2017 that Animal Kingdom Villas exceeded the 10,000-point level in consecutive months.
For the sixth month in a row, no points were sold for the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. That will change in next month’s report. On March 3, 2022, Disney commenced sales of the new Resort Studios in the Big Pine Key Building and deeds have begun to be recorded with the Orange County Comptroller.
In February, 2,735 points were sold for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, which is a fairly typical amount for that resort. Over the last year sales have averaged 2,184 points, ranging from a high of 2,970 points to a low of 1,065 points.
Disney’s Riviera Resort — In February 2022, 84,996 points were sold for Riviera, the third best month in sales for the resort since the start of the pandemic. This number represents a modest 1.02% increase over the 84,135 points sold in January 2022, and a 21.6% year-over-year increase vs the 69,875 points sold in Feburary 2021.
Disney has sold 2,711,511 points, or 40.2%, of the Riviera’s 6.7 million points. The resort has averaged 77,973 points in monthly sales, which includes several months in 2020 when sales for all DVC resorts were severely impacted by the COVID pandemic.
Disney has declared 167 of the Riviera’s 341 vacation homes. In terms of points, the declared inventory accounts for about 3,327,263 points, or 49.4% of the resort’s total points.
Four Fixed Week deeds were sold for Riviera in February bringing to 98 the number such deeds sold. 61 Fixed Week deeds have been sold for the last six weeks of the year, including 16 deeds for Week #52, which normally falls between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
The sales data includes all 11 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds. Thanks to Chris for assisting in the compilation of the sales data.
