Financial News & Pricing

The 2020 Disney Vacation Club annual dues are a mixture of good news and bad news. The good news: owners of three resorts will see increases of less than 1%. The bad news: owners of seven properties will pay rates more than 5% higher than 2019.

As was the case in 2019, most operating expense categories are seeing an increase in costs for 2020. These increases are likely driven by higher employee wages included in recent union contracts.  In 2018, members of the Service Trades Council Union approved an agreement which gradually raised the $10 minimum hourly wage to $13 by September 2019, $14 by 2020 and $15 in 2021.

Most expense categories include some element of Cast Member compensation, especially areas like Housekeeping and Administration and Front Desk. In the past, Disney Vacation Club exectives have stated that 75% of resort operating costs go to employee wages, benefits and taxes.

Property taxes, which had been subject to dramatic inflation in recent years, have leveled off with increases of just 1-2% for most Walt Disney World properties.

The modest increases at Disney's Beach Club Villas were aided by a reduction in the maintenance budget, while Disney's BoardWalk Villas benefitted from a small decrease in property taxes.

Budgets will be formally ratified by the Condo board at the 2019 annual meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2019.  DVCNews.com will be on-hand reporting live from the Condo Association meeting.
