In February 2017, Disney sold 150,892 points for the nine Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World. Sales were lower when compared to January 2017 (200,917 points for the same resorts), but when compared to sales in the recent past, this month’s sales total is close to the 158,848 points the Walt Disney World DVC resorts have averaged over the last 12 months.
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — In February 2017, 129,884 points were sold for the Polynesian. Since sales began in January 2015, the Polynesian sales have averaged 105,134 points a month. Over the last 12 months, however, the resort has averaged 133,589 points month. As a comparison, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort averaged 105,440 points a month during the 22 months it was the focus of Disney’s marketing efforts.
The Polynesian has sold over 2.6 million DVC points, or 65.4% of its 4,032,720 total points. It still has 1,315,028 points left to sell to the general public. If it can maintain the same sales pace that it has had over the last 12 months — 133,589 points a month — it would take the resort about 10 months to sell out. However, with sales beginning for Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, it will be interesting to see if the Polynesian can maintain this pace.
The last declaration for the Polynesian was made on October 17, 2016, bringing the resort’s DVC inventory to 74.1%. At the end of February, Disney had about 350,000 declared but unsold points left in its inventory. In the past, Disney has made another declaration whenever its inventories at other resorts dropped below 500,000 points. Thus, another declaration for the Polynesian should happen at any time.
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — Sales data for January 2017 for Aulani is not yet available. In December 2016, only 173 deeds and 24,869 points were sold for Aulani.
In the past few months, sales for Aulani have fallen dramatically. Since May 2014 when sales for Aulani were first tracked, the resort has averaged 61,581 points per month. But in the last six months Aulani has averaged only 35,965 points.
Sales for Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, DVC’s newest resort, began on March 8, 2017. It will take about 12 to 15 days before the first deeds are filed and recorded with the Orange County Comptroller. When they appear, DVCNews will begin tracking sales for Copper Creek.
The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
