Walt Disney World is reportedly preparing to institute permanent ID checks at the Disney Springs, limiting resort bus access only to those with hotel, dining or recreation reservations.

In March 2026, Disney implemented a guest screening process at the Disney Springs pickup point. During the busy spring break season, guests were only permitted to board Disney resort buses if they were current hotel guests, or if they had a reservation for a restaurant or recreational experience at the destination. The move was generally applauded by Disney guests, eliminating added passengers who used the free parking at Disney Springs to visit Disney resorts or theme parks.

Website WDWMagic is reporting that Disney intends to bring back the screening before the July 4 holiday weekend, with plans to make it a permanent offering. Before being granted access to the Disney Springs bus loop, guests will be required to scan a MagicBand or similar ID, demonstrating that they have a confirmed reason to use the Disney transportation system.

The report also claims that "Disney is...investigating the feasibility of expanding the process to other areas of the property and other forms of transportation at a later date." Use of the Walt Disney World resort monorail system has been scruitinzed by guests for some time now. While the Express Monorail is needed to move visitors between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom, many opt to board the Resorts Monorail which visits Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This extra traffic can lead to extended wait time for resort guests looking to board at those stations.

It is important to note that the move remains unconfirmed at this time. If implemented, Disney Vacation Club members staying at any of the Walt Disney World properties should have no issues using their MagicBand or Key to the World Card to move between the resort and Disney Springs
