Worldwide Park Passes Discussed

WDW Theme Park News

At last week's shareholder meeting of The Walt Disney Company an attendee raised a question of whether worldwide theme park passes had ever been considered.  While such passes are not on the horizon, Bob Iger seemed intrigued by the concept.

Scott Powers picks up the story in his Orlando Sentinel blog entry:

During the company's annual shareholder's meeting, in Albuquerque, N.M., Iger replied that a single, annual pass good at all 11 Disney parks was something to consider, and that it had never come up before. Even Disney Board of Directors Chairman John Pepper said he was interested in the idea. Later a Disney Vacation Club member joined in and suggested that if such passes were ever offered that DVC members should be given special consideration. Iger seemed to like that idea too.

While most Disney Vacation Club developements to-date have centered around the Florida-based Walt Disney World complex, Disney is set to open its first timeshare at Anaheim's Disneyland Resort in late 2009.  Rumors of future DVC developments seem to mirror worldwide theme park expansion with Paris and Hong Kong resorts often being linked to future DVC construction.

Providing DVC members with a smoother mechanism for visiting the worldwide theme parks could go a long way toward making additional DVC purchases more palatable to owners.

What do you think of worldwide park passes?  Would it change your future travel habits?  What is a reasonable price to pay for unlimited admission to eleven theme parks?  Share your comments in the discussion thread on our message boards (registration required.)
