"Domestic Parks Pass" coming soon?

WDW Theme Park News

A recent blog post to website MiceChat.com suggests that Disney may soon begin to offer a "Domestic Parks Pass" good for unlimited admission to destinations at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

According to the MiceChat report:

We have some interesting news which is sure to be popular with Disney Vacation Club members. A new annual pass has been developed for the Disney parks in the USA. This new "Domestic Parks Pass" is essentially a combined annual pass for both Walt Disney World in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California and should be rolling out soon. The price is expected to be in the $800 range. We'll leave it to you to debate the price point and whether this pass would be much of a value at such a high price point.

The concept of a Disney Parks Annual Pass which would extend beyond a single resort complex was raised during a shareholders meeting back in 2008.  Disney CEO Bob Iger was reportedly intrigued by the idea, but there have been no additional developments in nearly two years following that meeting.

If the report is accurate, the title "Domestic Parks Pass" suggests that it would include admission to all seven Walt Disney World parks including Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach and DisneyQuest.  The Walt Disney World Premium Annual Pass currently retails for $494 per adult, while the Disneyland Premium Annual Pass--the only Disneyland annual pass valid for admission throughout the year with no blackout dates--is $439 per adult.

Purchased separately these two passes currently retail for $933 per adult, plus applicable sales tax.

Disney Vacation Club members are currently eligible for discounts of $125 off of the regular price of a Walt Disney World Premium Annual Pass and $20 off on the purchase of a new Disneyland Premium Annual Pass.

When reached for comment, a Disney Vacation Club source simply stated that nothing has been announced regarding a bi-costal Annual Pass.
