Last week Disney Vacation Club unveiled new S.S. Member Cruise voyages set for September 2012 and January 2013.  Buried within the fine print was a clause which prohibits those who exclusively own resale points purchased after March 2011 from booking either of the Member Cruises.  These owners would be prohibited from using their points due to the recent resale restrictions, but the cruise booking guidelines stipulated that they could not even pay cash to attend.

For most members, Hawai'i can be a challenging location to visit.  Flights are expensive and can last upward of 10 hours from origin points in the eastern US. 

In light of these transportation woes, most guests would probably look to maximize the amount of time spent at Aulani.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas--the eighth Disney Vacation Club resort--has its units spread over two distinct facilities.  Jambo House is the original Animal Kingdom Lodge with its grand entrance lobby and a wide variety of dining choices.  Meanwhile Kidani Village is the newer facility with larger guest rooms and a more child-friendly swimming complex.

Disney Vacation Club is often faulted for its lack of communications with members.  Over the years they have dabbled in print and email newsletters, a dedicated member website and more recently Facebook.  Yet members still complain that they are left uninformed regarding program changes which affect their ownership.

Disney Vacation Club resort vary greatly in size--from nearly 900 two bedroom equivalents at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort down to just 50 at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The number of villas available impacts the number of points available to purchase, number of villas available to book, success in booking at 7 months, success in booking on short notice, resale value of points, etc.
