For the first 15-20 years of Disney Vacation Club's existence, owners looking to rent excess points had to do all of the legwork themselves. Listings could be posted to a number of sites including the DISBoards or eBay, looking for non-members willing to rent for a fixed price.
More recently services like DVCRequest.com have emerged. These rental brokers pair up the owners and non-owners, requiring much less work for the owner while taking a portion of the rental proceeds.
