Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is among the first locations to sample the new "Hey, Disney!" in-room voice assistant.
Guests at the Polynesian have been notified that the Amazon Echo voice assistants may be installed at some point during their stay. The move was first announced back in September 2021 and reiterated at the Disney Vacation Club condo association meeting in December.
Plans called for Mickey Mouse-themed Echo Show devices to be installed in Walt Disney World hotel rooms and villas. Utilizing the "Alexa for Hospitality" initiative, guests could use voice commands to request additional pillows delivered to the room, locate their favorite snacks or determine restaurant operating hours.
More than 1000 interactions were touted with a character lineup that includes Mickey Mouse, Olaf and Dory.
The voice assistants are expected to be a complimentary in-room amenity at Disney resorts. A home version of "Hey, Disney!" is expected to launch on the Amazon Skills store for a fee.
