Walt Disney World is wisely making use of the smaller crowds at hotels and Disney Vacation Club villas to refurbish rooms and amenities.  To that end, Kiki Tikis Splah Play Area at the resort's Lava Pool will be closed in February and March 2021.

During the closure, the feature pool and slide will remain open, along with the Oasis pool

The resort's Lava Pool area was fully updated back in 2014 prior to the opening of the DVC villas in 2015.

This is one of many projects currently taking place around the Polynesian resort. All of the facility's hotel rooms are being refurbished, along with substantial changes to the Great Ceremonial House and its second floor Monorail platform and its second floor Monorail platform. Work is expected to continue into the summer of 2021.

Disney Vacation Club villas remain available for booking. Guests are asked to use bus or boat service for access to theme parks, or they may walk to the nearby Transportation and Ticket Center for Monorial access.
