No new Grand Cal guest entrance

Grand Californian Hotel

A recent report at website MiceAge.com indicates that Disney Vacation Club members will soon be getting their own private entrance to Disney's California Adventure.  We did some checking to see what we could dig up regarding this rumored new entrance.

The area in question runs from the new villa wing at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa into the Paradise Pier area of Disney's California Adventure--adjacent to the forthcoming Ariel's Undersea Adventure.  (See photos at MiceAge.com.)  Despite an existing access point to DCA, a second entrance so close to the villas would certainly be appealing to DVC members.

Unfortunately it does not appear that DVC members are getting an exclusive theme park gate.

According to Disney Vacation Club sources, a new entrance is scheduled to be added to the area in question.  However, the entry is designed as a "back-of-house" entrance to the park for use exclusively by Disney Cast Members, contractors and other backstage personnel.

Disney has no plans to construct an additional theme park entrance for the use of DVC members or any guests at the Grand Californian.

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is the only domestic hotel with a dedicated entrance to a Disney theme park.  Hotel and DVC villa guests have exclusive access to the existing gate located between the Napa Rose restaurant and White Water Snacks.
