In early 2019, Walt Disney World announced that it would be revitalizing the walkways which surround the Magic Kingdom. In addition to removing the 25-year old Walk Around the World bricks and constructing a path which links the park to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney is also revitalizing the path which runs between Magic Kingdom and Contemporary.
Back in December 2019, the existing path was blocked off. Foot traffic is maintained via a temporary walkway which occasionally leaks into the roadway, with temporary barriers in place to ensure guest safety.
Website WDW News Today has published an updated look at the path. The new path will include a more permanent security screening point for guests arriving at the park. Images also display a circular concrete structure likely a plant bed or a fountain (see above.)
