The long-rumored refurbishment of California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort has finally been confirmed and dated.
Per the Disney Parks Blog, California Grill will close on January 6, 2013 and remain closed until "late summer" 2013. Summer officially runs through September 22, 2013.
The refurbishment has been one of the worst kept secrets at Walt Disney World in recent memory with waitstaff being informed of an upcoming closure nearly a year ago.
Some sources previously reported that the primary reason for the closure would be necessary roof maintenance on the Contemporary Resort rather than changes to the restaurant itself. That does not appear to be the case according to today's reveal. Chef Brian Piasecki claims there will be a "new look" for this signature dining location as well as "changes to the interactive kitchen."
