Member Services downtime soon; new enhancements follow

DVC Policies & Procedures

Disney Vacation Club is on the verge of a scheduled upgrade to its computer system.  Due to the nature of the upgrade, Member Services will close for more than a day in mid-October.

Following are details regarding the upgrade process soon to be released by Disney Vacation Club.  Contained within are details on expected downtime and dates when "limited system capabilites" are expected.

The statement also confirms the deposit requirement for cash bookings through Member Services as well as the need to pre-pay for the DIning Plan.  Both of these changes go into effect on October 14, 2010.

In the spring edition of Disney Files Magazine, we shared with you that we are in the process of transforming our current Disney Vacation Club reservation system to a new, integrated reservation system. The first phase of the launch will take place on Thursday, October 14th.

In order to implement this new service, Member Services will be closing Tuesday, October 12th at 3:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday, October 14th at 9:00 a.m. EDT.  Please note that the self-service functionality on DVCMember.com will also be unavailable during this same time period. This downtime is necessary to facilitate a smooth booking process when Member Services reopens.

As we continue with the subsequent phases of the system enhancements over the next few months, we also expect to have limited system capabilities on October 20th, November 17th, December 1st and 15th. However, Member Services will remain open on these dates.  Please watch DVCMember.com or call Member Services at for exact hours and updates about the enhancements as new information becomes available.

When the system change is complete, some of the benefits you will see are automatic email reservation confirmations and the ability for your guest(s) to receive confirmations at your request.  You will also be able to enjoy having one itinerary and confirmation number for different segments of your future vacation plans (e.g. multiple rooms, resorts, reservation types, etc.).  Most importantly, this reservation system enhancement lays the final foundation for online booking in 2011.

There are some changes that come with this new system, effective October 14th, that we want to bring to your attention.  For cash reservations, a one night room and tax deposit will be necessary.  Also, payment for the Disney Dining Plan will be necessary at the time it is added to your reservation.  As a reminder, you can add the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation up to 48 hours prior to your check-in date.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to improve our services.  We are eager to make your booking experience better than ever, and we look forward to welcoming you “home” again soon.
