Appliance maker Whirlpool Corporation has struck a deal to equip Disney Vacation Club villas.
Among the defining characteristics of most DVC villas are the full kitchen and in-room washer and dryer facilities, offering a "home-away-from-home" experience during Disney theme park vacations. Disney and Whirlpool have come to an agreement to provide the appliances for One Bedroom and larger villas, including refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, ovens and clothes washers & dryers.
Among Whirlpool's brand names are KitchenAid, Maytag, Consul, Brastemp, Amana, Bauknecht, Jenn-Air and Indesit.
It is not known if this move will spark wholesale replacement of current villa appliances. Villas are currently equipped with units from a wide range of bands including Kenmore and Frigidaire.
Workers are currently in the midst of an extensive renovation to Disney's Old Key West Resort, along with construction on Disney's Riviera Resort.
As part of the deal, Whirlpool will provide on-stage cooking setups for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and the Food & Wine Festival at Disneyland Resort. Additionally Whirlpool will help create food-based digital content to be distributed through Disney's platforms.
