Later this year the Long Island Doorway to Dreams sales center will follow its Chicago counterpart into oblivion.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the New York-based Dooway to Dreams will close on November 3, 2012. Closure of the Schaumburg, Illinois location location was previously set for September 14, 2012.
The suburban Chicago location opened to great fanfare in 2007 with the New York site following two years later. Disney Vacation Club used the two remote locations to showcase model rooms of its timeshare villas and promot the DVC product.
The sales outlets were home to numerous promotional gatherings for members and non-members alike. In addition to discounted pricing, attendees were treated to complimentary refreshments, live entertainment and even visits from Disney characters.
Earlier this summer a Disney Vacation Club spokesperson told DVCNews.com that the Chicago Doorway to Dreams closure would allow DVC to "focus on other business initiatives."
