February 2015 direct sales update

Financial News & Pricing

As sales for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows picked up momentum in February 2015, Disney Vacation Development sold 244,886 Disney Vacation Club points, an increase of 9.5% over the previous month. The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was first in sales with 97,678 points, Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas was second with 66,489 points, and the Polynesian was third with 61,050 points sold in the month.

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — In February 2015, 61,050 points were sold for the Polynesian. Sales to new members did not begin until February 9, so the vast majority of sales recorded in February reflect add-on deeds by existing members. It was not until the last week of the month that more deeds were being recorded that had a Polynesian master contract number, which is usually indicative of a new member purchase. Since it normally takes about 14 to 20 days after the sale for deeds to be recorded, the sales data for March should include many more new member deeds.

DVC Direct Sales February 2015

The Polynesian is the third DVC resort — Grand Floridian and Aulani being the other two — that offers buyers the option of a Guaranteed Week deed. In February 2015, twenty-nine Guaranteed Week deeds were sold, bringing to thirty-five the total sold at this resort. Seventeen Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for Lake View studios, fifteen Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for Standard View studios, and three have been sold for Bungalows. The most popular week is Week #52, which in 2015 starts on December 27 and includes the New Year’s holiday. Ten Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for that week. The next most popular week is Week #49, which accounts for 5 of the 35 Guaranteed Week deeds sold for the Polynesian.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 40.71% of the Polynesian’s total points for the DVC inventory. This means that DVC members cannot book more than 40.71% of the Polynesian on any given Use Day.

Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa -- In February 2015, 97,678 points were sold for the Grand Floridian. The resort has now sold 2,176,746, or 86.4% of its total points. There are about 293,000 points that can still be sold to the general public.

In February, four Guaranteed Week deeds were sold for the Grand Floridian, bringing to 255 the number of Guaranteed Week deeds that have been sold. 107 of the 255 Guaranteed Week deeds have been for the last six weeks of the calendar year. Week #51 and Week #49 are the two most popular weeks at the Grand Floridian with 22 and 21 Guaranteed Week deeds, respectively. The maximum number of guaranteed week deeds — 35% for each week — has not been sold for any accommodation type in any week.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — In February 2015, 381 Aulani deeds containing 66,489 points were sold, an increase of 56.6% over the 42,463 points sold in January 2015.

Although fewer points were sold for Aulani than Grand Floridian, it averages more points per deed than any other resort. In February, Aulani averaged 174.5 points per deed, while the Grand Floridian averaged 129.0 points per deed and the Polynesian 107.3 points per deed.

The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
