View from the Purple Van 8/29

Purple Van

mt_ignore:Purple VanJohn Van Meter and the Owner's Locker staff are back from another on-site report from Walt Disney World and other locations in and around Central Florida.

This report includes seven photographs featuring a look at Walt Disney World before, during and after Hurricane Fay, visits to Saratoga Springs Resort, the BoardWalk area and more.

And it rained forty days and forty nights.......well at least it seemed like it. Walt Disney World just doesn't photograph well in the rain. This was a typical view of what we saw through the windshield of the purple van during the seemingly endless visit of tropical storm Fay (the extra traffic was due to a wreck):

But slowly this week, the skies have cleared and the place suddenly looked welcoming again. Here's the canal from the Studios to the EPCOT resorts with the Walt Disney World Swan in the background:

And a photo of the Magnolia Golf Course:

One silver lining to Fay's clouds was the rain that central Florida seriously needed. Here's a photo looking to the right across the bridge at the entrance to Old Key West Resort before Fay.....

.....and one taken this week:

These retention ponds don't have concrete bottoms. that's the water table you see! Fay did make a difference.
