The Disney Vacation Club has announced that high-speed Internet service will be free for members using their points at the Walt Disney World resorts beginning on Sunday, May 4th, 2008. The official statement is contained within.
Daily Internet charge to be discontinued effective May 4, 2008
Based on Member feedback, the daily charge for wired high-speed Internet access for Members staying at Disney Vacation Club Resorts at the Walt Disney World® Resort will be discontinued effective May 4, 2008. Guests renting Disney Vacation Club accommodations will continue to pay the daily rate for access, and high-speed Internet access charges still apply to Members staying at non-Disney Vacation Club Resorts.
It was originally announced during the 2007 Condo Association Meetings that DVC members would begin receiving free Internet service sometime in 2008. The ambiguity of DVC's statements left many members believing that service would be complimentary as of January 1, 2008. However, that date came and went with members still being billed for service.
Shortly thereafter DVC issued a statement indicating that the free service would be offered sometime in the spring of 2008.
This latest commitment should put to rest any questions regarding the implementation of this new member perk.
