Disney Vacation Club has finally addressed one of the most frequently voiced complaints regarding its exclusive members-only cruises.
With DVC member cruises often planned for late-August, September and even May, one of the frequent complaints is that they never fall during school vacation periods. Apparently DVC has taken those complaints to heart.
The 2018 members-only voyage is a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas which runs from July 23 - 28. Sailing out of Port Canaveral aboard the Disney Dream, this unique 4-day itinerary features two days at Disney's exclusive island Castaway Cay, along with one day at sea.
Disney Vacation Club members-only cruises are known for their celebrity guests which have include Disney Imagineers, artists, voice talent, Broadway performers and more. Exclusive shipboard gifts are also provided to participants. This is in addition to the traditional Broadway-style entertainment, themed kids play areas, unique dining venues, character greeting opportunities and more.
Prices start at 279 reservation points or $2,079 per person for a Category 11C Standard Inside Stateroom. Rate is based upon double occupancy with at least two adults charged for a single cabin. Additional occupants can be added at a rate of 87 points ($648) per child age 2 and under, 151 points ($1,125) for ages 3-12 and 157 points ($1,170) for each individual age 13 and up.
Reservations for the 2018 member cruise will begin at 9:00am on Sunday, August 6, 2017. (Note that from 9am to 3pm on this date, Member Services will only be handling calls related to the member cruise.) Those wishing to book should be prepared with the name, address, phone number, date of birth and nationaltiy of all persons to be listed on the reservation, along with DVC Member ID number, Castaway Club number and any special medical or dietary needs.
Callers are advised to be prepared with a list of several acceptable cabin categories. Demand for member cruises typically exceeds the number of staterooms available, and the summer vacation scheduling of this voyage is likely to drive interest to new heights. Expect busy signals and long telephone on-hold times.
In order to book the cruise, members must own points purchased direct from Disney or via the resale marketplace prior to March 21, 2011. The cruise may be booked using points, cash or a combination of both. Full payment is due at the time of booking. Penalties apply to any modificaiton or cancellation after booking.
