September 2015 sales update: Polynesian sales record modest increase

Financial News & Pricing

In September 2015, overall direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points rose to 114,323 points, a 13.3% increase compared to the previous month. Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, the only Walt Disney World DVC resort currently being actively marketed, accounted for 82,909 of the points sold for the month.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, the only other DVC resort that is currently being marketed, is not included in the sales data for September. Sales data for Aulani has only been updated through August 2015 by the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances; thus, Aulani’s September sales cannot be included at this time.

DVC Direct Sales September 2015

Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — The 82,909 points sold for the Polynesian in September 2015 is 5.0% more than in August 2015. Disney Vacation Development has now sold 621,927, or 15.4% of the Polynesian’s 4,032,720 total points.

The Polynesian is averaging about 76,100 points sold per month. If sales for the Polynesian continue at that rate, it will take about 44 months before the resort is sold out.

One Guaranteed Week deed was sold for the Polynesian in September 2015. This is the first Guaranteed Week deed sold for the Polynesian in over two months. So far, 77 Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for the Polynesian: 41 deeds for Lake View studios; 25 deeds for Standard View studios; and 11 deeds for the over-the-water bungalows.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 10 bungalows and 142 studios for the DVC inventory, which accounts for 40.71% of the resort's total points. There are still 218 studios and 10 more bungalows that have not yet been declared and are controlled by DVD.

Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa -- Only 18 deeds containing 1,468 points were sold in September 2015 for the Grand Floridian. Based on recorded sales through September, Disney Vacation Development has only 6,348 Grand Floridian points that it can still sell to the general public.

Disney Vacation Development can replenish its inventory of points by reacquiring deeds through foreclosure, exercising its Right of First Refusal on resale transactions, and by buying back deeds. In September, 250 Grand Floridian points were reacquired: 150 points via the foreclosure process and 100 points were bought back at full price. Since sales began for the Grand Floridian, DVD has only reacquired a total of 7,514 of its points. It has yet to exercise ROFR on any Grand Floridian resale transaction.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — Sales data for Aulani is not included in this month’s sales update. In August 2015, 75,303 points were sold for Aulani, an increase of 13.1% over July 2015. Over the last 12 months, Aulani has sold an average of 69,173 points a month.

By including Aulani’s sales in the August 2015 data, a total of 176,250 DVC points were sold in that month. This is the third lowest amount of points sold in the last 12 months.

The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
