Earlier this week, Walt Disney World completed its gradual roll-out of a program designed to allow incoming guests to skip the front desk entirely.
All Walt Disney World resort guests--including Disney Vacation Club members--can now proceed directly to their guest room upon arrival without making a single visit to the resort front desk.
Disney's "Direct-to-Room" service will allow guests to receive a text or email message with the assigned room number when the room is ready to be occupied. Guests MagicBands will already be encoded to unlock the door, allowing them to proceed to the room at their leisure.
In order to participate in the Direct-to-Room service, guests must complete online check-in prior to arrival. Credit card numbers, PIN numbers and other required information must be submitted during the advance check-in process in order to enable this service.
Disney implemented this new service in phases, starting back in February. The final group of properties--including Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa--were scheduled to be implemented on March 10, 2015.
Guest may still opt for the traditional front desk check-in if they wish.
