DVCNews Debates: Best incentive

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesDisney Vacation Club has been known to employ a variety of promotional incentives in order to sell points.  While the days of getting 8-9 years' worth of free theme park admission with a DVC purchase are long gone, more recent incentives include Developer's Points, Annual Pass vouchers, RCI weeks, free Disney cruises and other vacations plus the ever popular added cash discounts.

DVCNews Debates: Adults only

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesWhile the Disney theme parks have gained their reputation as family friendly experiences, Disney has also made attempts to cater to adults.  Select restaurants and entertainment venues (spas, clubs) have restrictive dress and age policies.  All Disney Cruise Line has created pools, beaches and other facilities which are reserved for adults only.

DVCNews Debates: Villa occupancy limits

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesDisney Vacation Club villa occupancy limits can be quite confusing...particularly at many of the older resorts.  At resorts such as Disney's BoardWalk Villas and Beach Club Villas, the maximum occupancy of a One Bedroom is officially listed as four guests and the rooms are only equipped to sleep four.  Nevertheless, DVC will actually allow up to 5 guests of any age to be listed on the reservation for these resorts.

Meanwhile some members apparently ignore both the official and unofficial limits and will invite as many people as they wish to share their villa.

DVCNews Debates: Housekeeping frequency

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesIn keeping with timeshare industry practices, Disney Vacation Club members receive significantly less housekeeping services than Disney hotel guests.  While hotel guests will find freshly made beds and vaccuumed carpets every evening, most DVC members receive little more than a clean set of towels during a weeklong stay.

The purpose behind the reduced services is to reduce ownership costs--housekeeping is funded by member Annual Dues charges.

DVCNews Debates: Non-DVC point usage

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesIt is often said that using Disney Vacation Club points for cruises and other trades outside of the eleven DVC resorts is not the best value.  On a dollar-for-dollar basis, points go much further when used toward stays at DVC resort hotels.  Nevertheless, many owners will still use their points toward non-DVC options for a variety of reasons.
