DVCNews Debates: Rental method

There are many different ways for owners to rent unneeded Disney Vacation Club points.  There are web forums like DISBoards and TUG which support point listings, eBay, rental brokers like DVCRequest.com even private transactions between friends and family.  Some methods yield a better return than others.  Some approaches require more work than others.  Some are riskier than others.

DVCNews Debates: Pool security

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Illegal pool hopping is an age old problem at Walt Disney World resort hotels.  While Disney Vacation Club members have the right to use pools at many other Disney hotels, other guests do so without such permission.  Of course, Disney is not terribly vigilent about policing improper pool usage.  Most resorts have no gates around their pools.  Room keys are not checked.  Wristbands are only distributed at the Yacht and Beach Club's Stormalong Bay.

Adding gates, wristbands and other security measures would impact the look of many pool areas and add to the dues cost for Disney Vacation Club members.  That begs the question of whether it's worth the extra effort and cost to police pool usage, or if going by the honor system is sufficient under most circumstances.

DVCNews Debates: Non-park trip

Resort hotels at Walt Disney World and Disneyland have primarily risen to prominence due to their close proximity to Disney theme parks.  However not all resort guests spend substantial time inside of the parks.  With each resort offering pools and other forms of recreation, kids' clubs, activity programs, restaurants and more, daily theme park visits are not necessarily required to enjoy a Disney / DVC resort stay.

DVCNews Debates: New website

Last week saw the debut of a new look and feel for DVCMember.com--the official Disney Vacation Club member website. Current changes are mostly cosmetic, but they come to a site which is often panned for its counter-intuitive design and presentation. New features are promised in future updates.

DVCNews Debates: VP advice

Last week we learned that Disney Vacation Club Vice President Claire Bilby would soon be departing.  On February 1 executive Ken Potrock will assume the top DVC leadership position.

In her relatively short 18 month tenure with DVC Bilby earned a reputation as being very member-friendly, introducing numerous new perks and resort enhancements.  But new managers often bring new philosophies.
