DVCNews Debates: Poly Rumors

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

It seems a foregone conclusion that Disney Vacation Club villas will eventually be added to all Deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World.  When the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort open later this year, only Disney's Polynesian Resort and Disney's Yacht Club will remain without a villa component.

What remains unknown is any timeiline for DVC construction at the remaining locations.  However, rumors recently emerged that construction on villas at the Polynesian could begin before the end of 2013.  Since the Polynesian is regarded as a favorite Walt Disney World resort by many guests, visible progress on such a project could negatively impact sales at other resorts.

DVCNews Debates: Transparency

Disney Vacation Club will never be a completely transparent operation.  While some members would love to get a look at the details behind annual dues charges, occupancy data or reservation trends, the most detailed bits of information will remain private "trade secrets" of The Walt Disney Company.

But perhaps Disney could (or should) be more forthcoming in certain areas.

DVCNews Debates: Disney Springs

Several weeks ago Disney unveiled plans to renovate and expand the Downtown Disney shopping district.  The new area--dubbed Disney Springs--will add parking garages, new bus stops and dozens of shops & restaurants to the popular Walt Disney World venue.

The new plans address several current issues with Downtown Disney--including the lack of parking--and have the potential to dramatically increase its popularity.

DVCNews Debates: Housekeeping

Disney Vacation Club stays do not feature daily housekeeping services.  With resort budgets being fully funded by members, it is one area where costs are cut when compared to full-service hotels.

Many members voice their acceptance of the policy, some going so far as to claim they are happier with the limited housekeeping services since it means not having to deal with Disney Cast Members coming-and-going from the resort room.  But wouldn't it be nice to return to the room to find made-up beds, fresh bath towels and empty garbage cans?

DVCNews Debates: Refillable mugs

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Disney resort guests can purchase refillable beverage mugs for a fixed price.  The mugs are valid for unlimited refills of soft drinks, coffee and similar beverages throughout the duration of the stay.

Given that all Disney Vacation Club resort rooms have a kitchen or kitchenette, the refillable mugs may not be as valuable to DVC members as they are to other guests.  Purchasing sodas and other beverages in bulk and storing in the room is often more convenient than making frequent trips to the refill station.
