Recent rumors suggest that a Disney Vacation Club presence at the Polynesian Resort may consist almost entirely of Studio villas.  If true, the move may be necessitated by difficulties in converting current hotel rooms to DVC villas.

Whatever the reasoning, the large Polynesian rooms may provide adequate space for some of the newer Studio amenities present in the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort including dual showers and a pull-down bed to sleep up to 5 guests.

DVCNews Debates: Park tickets

While many Disney Vacation Club resorts are located within close proximity to Disney's theme parks, there is no obligation to visit the parks during a villa stay.  Some members purchase Magic Your Way passes or Annual Passes in order to have park admission for every day of the visit.  Others may use non-expiring passes to make only occasional visits in the parks.  Some skip the parks entirely and enjoy the resort facilities.

Disney Vacation Club hosts numerous member gatherings throughout the year.  Some are regularly-scheduled weekly events like Welcome Home Wednesdays at Walt Disney World, the Royal Member Gathering at Disneyland and Aulani's Mahalo Member Mingle.

Others are less frequent but still memorable, including the holiday Member Merry Mixers and the once or twice annual S.S. Member Cruises.

DVCNews Debates: Park development

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

While Disney Vacation Club does have a number of non-park destinations, the vast majority of its resorts are build to exploit the theme parks of Disneyland and Walt Disney World.  Many members find themselves visiting the same parks over and over again, and are sensitive to changes in those parks...or lack therof.  Specifically, Walt Disney World is often taken to task for a lack of elaborate additions in recent years, particularly when compared to crosstown rival Universal Studios.

All of which begs the question of what expectations Disney Vacation Club owners have for growth of the Disney theme parks.
