Many lingering questions are answered as the name and new details are revealed for the newest Disney Vacation Club destination.

We finally have a name. The new Polynesian tower under construction will be known as Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The 10-story bulding will contain a variety of familiar Disney Vacation Club accommodations including the two-person duo studios. New accommodations include what are called two-bedroom penthouse villas.

Two new pieces of concept art have been shared, both showcasing the resort lobby. A piece appearing on the Disney Parks Blog shares design details regarding the new tower. The lobby features ceiling art panels showcasing wildlife native to several Polynesian islands. More than a dozen artists collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineering to create unique artwork for display at the resort. Much of the artwork focuses on "the rich cultures of Polynesia" and "the spirit of conservation" including moss-covered walls and sculptures made from recycled fishing nets.

The extrerior of the building features a Manta Ray which symbolizes freedom, protection and grace. According to Disney: "Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will complete the vision created by Disney Imagineers decades ago while embracing the rich culture from the Polynesian Islands."

The building is said to utilize 30% less energy than a typical resort of this size. Island Tower conservation efforts align with Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Green Lodging program.

The name seemingly confirms DVC's intention to add the tower to the existing condominium association dubbed Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. DVC has repeatedly voiced this intent, including during the public condo association meeting back in December 2023. However statements were usually footnoted with something to the effect of "that is our current plan."

Rooms are designed to sleep 2-9 guests, meaning there will be no three bedroom Grand Villas in the Island Tower. The Disney Parks Blog story makes no mention of Deluxe Studio accommodations. However, an accompanying press release confirms "The tower will also include deluxe studio rooms, adding to the deluxe studio rooms already available at the resort."  Our previous examination of the resort's plans clearly showcase one Deluxe Studio which is part of a Two Bedrom lockoff villa, and two other rooms which appear to be dedicated Deluxe Studios.

The building will be available for cash reservations prior to the launch of DVC sales. About a year ago, Disney followed a similar pattern with The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. Dates are as follows:

  • June 4: Disney Vacation Club members can make cash reservations via Member Services
  • June 5: Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can book by calling 407-934-7639
  • June 6: All guests can make reservations online or by calling 407-934-7639

Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bunglows is set to open before the end of 2024. DVC has not announced pricing or a date on which points will be made available to purchase.
