Ft. Wilderness Cabins to Cost Fewer Points Than One Bedroom, Some Studios

Ft Wilderness Cabins

The Cabins at Disney’s Ft Wilderness Resort & Campground are expected to be among the most economical Disney Vacation Club accommodations, costing less than One Bedroom options at Walt Disney World and even some Deluxe Studio rooms.

Along with details on pet policies, resale restrictions and contract ending dates, public documents recently filed by Disney Vacation Development offer a preview of how many points per night the cabins may cost.

The total number of points represented by a single cabin is expected to be about 7661. This rate makes the cabins cheaper than every existing One Bedroom villa at Walt Disney World, including the Value rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas which represent about 8176 points per year. It also makes the cabins cheaper than some of the higher priced Deluxe Studio options including:

  • Disney’s Riviera Resort Preferred View (8,696)
  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Theme Park View (8,803)
  • The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Lake View (9,140)
  • Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Lake View (9,403)

Nightly point charts are yet to be revealed and these projections should be considered unofficial. However these numbers reflect the total points each room represents over the course of a calendar year. As such, the cabins’ per-unit total of 7,661 points suggests they will be priced very similarly to Standard View Deluxe Studio rooms at the Grand Floridian which total 7,627 points. DVC could elect to create multiple "views" or room categories with yearly rates higher or lower than 7,661, however the number should stand as an accurate per-unit average resort-wide.

These comparatively low rates are not entirely unexpected. The Ft Wilderness Cabins have been bookable for many years through the Disney Vacation Club exchange program. Like other non-DVC destinations including Disney hotel rooms and cruises, rates are typically inflated within these exchange programs. Nevertheless, as recently as 2023 a cabin could be secured for as little as 38 points per night.

Disney Vacation Club Deluxe Studio villas accommodate 4-5 guests with a single sleeping area, kitchenette and a bathroom or split bathroom. The Cabins at Disney’s Ft Wilderness Resort & Campground will accommodate up to 6 guests including a private bedroom with a queen-size bed and twin bunk beds, a pull-down queen in the living room and a full kitchen. Each free-standing unit also includes a private deck and a charcoal grill outdoors.

Disney’s initial filing covers 30 cabins located in the 2300 loop. While resort staff is not obligated to place guests staying on DVC points in these declared units in the 2300 loop, they will likely be home to the first cabins updated during this phased construction project. The resort currently includes a total of 363 cabins. Cabins not added to the timeshare association will remain available for Disney to rent to cash guests.

Also added to the timeshare program with this initial filing are the pool and guest laundry (see above). While there may be some refurbishment work performed on these shared amenities, at this time there do not appear to be significant enhancements planned for the pool and laundry facilities.

The new Disney Vacation Club cabins are expected to open to guests sometime in mid 2024.
