Official Word on Free Internet

Member Benefits and Perks

DVC has finally commented on a timeline for the free Internet service.  There is also word of wireless service planned for two DVC resorts.

A recently-posted news item on DVCMember.com confirms word that members will begin receiving Internet service for free sometime in the spring.

Based on Member feedback, the daily charge for wired high-speed Internet access for Members staying at Disney Vacation Club Resorts at the Walt Disney World® Resort is slated to be discontinued once system enhancements are in place this spring. Guests renting Disney Vacation Club accommodations will continue to pay the daily rate for access, and high-speed Internet access charges still apply to Members staying at non-Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

In related news, plans call for wireless service debut inside vacation homes at Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort sometime this year. Look for updates on this Web site as new details become available.

No extact timeline has been provided for the completion of either upgrade.  Some members report they have been told that free service will be available "around March 1st", but without any firm plans in place it seems that things remain up in the air.

We will continue to follow the situation and report on additional developments as they become known.
