Disney shuffles executives

General DVC News

The retirement of a long-time Disney executive results in new leadership for several Disney theme parks as well as Disney Vacation Club.

Last month Al Weiss, president of worldwide operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced his retirement after 39 years with the company. Rather than filling Weiss' position outright, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs elected to reorganize the corporate structure, effectively splitting duties among two current executives.

Current Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton will assume leadership of Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris. This move is reflective of the "One Disney" initiative which aims to streamline operations among Disney's various theme park holdings, particularly domestic parks.

Meanwhile, Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney will also add the Disney Vacation Club timeshare program to his responsibilities. DVC president Jim Lewis, who previously reported to the now retired Weiss, will now answer to Holz.
