Walt Disney World's theme park reservation system is now accepting bookings nearly two years into the future.
Park capacity restrictions prompted by COVID-19 lead to the introduction of Disney's ParkPass system. Guests are required to secure a reservation prior to arrival at the Disney theme parks.
The system was originally planned to remain in use through September 2021. Availability was later extended into 2022. Now, in conjunction with the debut of vacation packages for 2022, Disney has opened made ParkPass reservations into January 2023.
Guests are required to have valid theme park admission attached to their MyDisneyExperience account prior to securing park reservations. Annual Passholders are permitted to hold 3 days of park reservations unless they have an uncoming Disney hotel stay linked to their account.
Thankfully, long range planning has proven to be unnecessary for the vast majority of dates, with rare exceptions like the October 1, 2021 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Disney Vacation Club members are advised to secure park reservations when their travel dates are confirmed, however excess capacity typically allows for short-notice modifications.
Additional flexibility returned in January 2021 in the form of park hopping.
Disney could opt to discontinue the ParkPass system in the future should it be deemed unnecessary as COVID-19 restrictions are lightened.
