DVCNews Debates: "Walking" reservations

DVCNews Debates

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesA method of securing early Disney Vacation Club reservations dubbed "walking" has been gaining popularity in some circles.  The process entails booking a room days or weeks ahead of the intended arrival.  Trip dates are then gradually altered with nights cancelled on the front end (to free-up the points) and added on the back-end.

Owners who "walk" reservations are justifiably using their own points and operating within the parameters of current rules.  However, some may view this process as an unintended loophole which gives select owners an unfair advantage.  It allows owners to temporarily hold availability they have no intention of utilizing, and increases traffic at DVC Member Services due to the multiple modifications made to reservations.

Topic: Do you feel that reservation "walking" is perfectly acceptable or should DVC take steps to curb the practice?
