Oh please say it isn't so! I LOVE that place! Totally taking away my Midwest Disney fix - this is not good. I sure hope Derek doesn't go down to Orlando - best DVC guide ever.

I'm not too surprised by this news. We did buy from the DTD in Schaumburg but every time we would stop by Woodfield Mall everyone that was in the store were just in there to get free rice krispie treats or balloons and were just confused that it was not a Disney Store. Very rarely did we actually see anyone being given a room tour, most would just stroll around the storefront, take whatever was being given away and then walk out. Even their member events turned from fun events to sales heavy presentations which may have been a last ditch effort to drum up sales to keep the location open. I have noticed that the mall that is closer to our home (Yorktown Mall) in Lombard now has a DVC kiosk with one CM there during the day. Also last year we went to a couple White Sox games and there was a DVC table there as well with a few familiar faces from the DTD Schaumburg store. Maybe DVC feels like they have a better chance with small 1 person kiosks at various malls and sporting events than having one brick and mortar location. I am going to a Sox game next weekend and the weekend after so I'll have to see if they have a DVC table this year as well.

I live in Los Angeles now. The Chicago D2D family is great. Maureen is one of the best Advanced Sales Associates I have ever met. Such a wonderful lady to bring a Disney smile to the midwest. Our DVC team in Anaheim is not so steller in my opinon. Never have had a wow experience with them like I did with D2D Chicago.
Overall, they made my trips to the mall great. I bought my second membership and an add-on there. When my guide left I requested to be placed back with my first guide in Orlando who is by far the best guide I have worked with and I have had quite a few.
I wish the best to the CMs there and hope they retain their employment with TWDC.

I agree. I bought my original DVC there at D2D and I also bought my add-on there as well. I don't ever see the need for more points and know I will not purchase anymore (unless I am tempted by the Grand Floridian) but I hope I will follow my guide where ever he goes.

Wow, Never been to any locations that sold DVC other than in WDW but I really hope the best for the sales reps that work in those locations.
