No Frills in Latest Direct Purchase Incentive

Disney Vacation Club is keeping things simple in its latest round of purchase incentives.  No gift cards, no free annual passes, no Disney cruises--just a few dollars off the list price of each point purchased.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Since the incentives were last refreshed in October 2017, two noteworthy things have happened:  DVC raised the cost per point and Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows has exited active sales.

Despite having only two properties to market--Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge--DVC incentives are rather modest, offering a Developer Credit based upon the number of points purchased.  The credit starts at $750 and rises to a hefty $25,000 for buyers willing to invest in at least 1,000 DVC points.

As of January 17, the base price for Aulani and Copper Creek is $182 per point, up from $176 per point.  Here are some of the cost reductions available to new members by resort:

New Buyer

Aulani and Copper Creek

150 points:  Buyer receives $1,000 Developer Credit
175 points:  $2,500 Developer Credit
250 points:  $5,000 Developer Credit
300 points:  $6,500 Developer Credit
1,000 points:  $25,000 Developer Credit

Incentives are similar for existing DVC owners wishing to add to their membership. However incentives begin at just 125 points, a lower threshold than is offered to new buyers.

Current Members Adding-On

Aulani and Copper Creek

125 points:  Buyer receives $750 Developer Credit
175 points:  $3,000 Developer Credit
250 points:  $5,000 Developer Credit
300 points:  $6,500 Developer Credit
1,000 points:  $25,000 Developer Credit

These offers are scheduled to run through May 30, 2018 but are subject to change at any time.  For complete details, contact a Disney Vacation Club sales representative.

Those who are interested in the Polynesian may have waited just a few weeks too long.  With points all but gone, DVC has raised the price from $176 per point to $220 per point with no incentives or discounts available.

Disney's Riviera Resort--the fifteenth Disney Vacation Club property--is currently under construction adjacent to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.  The new desitination is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019.

So basically if you add on at 125 point or more you will pay $176 per point or less depending on the developer credit. So the only one that will pay more than $176 per point are the small add ons and new buyers that purchase less than 150 points. Or have they raised the minimum purchase again?

Correct. It's $182 per point for anything under those Developer Credit levels.
