DVCNews.com has learned that active point sales for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel will begin winding down soon.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Disney Vacation Club is entering the "final phase" of sales at the Grand Californian. We contacted a Disney spokesperson who confirmed this information but refused to provide specific inventory numbers or projected sales timelines.
Disney Vacation Club began selling points at the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian in early 2009. With only 50 villas, the resort represents the smallest of Disney's ten timeshare properties. Some initial projections had the resort being sold out within a matter of months, but a strugging economy lead to softer than expected sales numbers.
Historically when DVC discontinues active sales on a resort all promotional discounts and sales incentives are removed. Points will remain available to those who still wish to purchase, but buyers are required to pay the full retail price which is currently $112 per point. Inventory levels may also necessitate that buyers wait weeks or months before the desired number of points are available.
Upon completion of active sales it is likely that the Disneyland vacation club marketing focus will shift to Disney's Aulani resort in Hawai'i.
