Over the holiday weekend, guests at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort were treated to a 16th floor view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

During the first several days of July 2021, the fireworks viewing platform atop Bay Lake Tower reopened to resort guests wishing to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks. The platform and nearby Top of the World Lounge have been closed since March 2020.

The platform was open nightly through July 4, available only to guests staying at the resort.  By July 5, the deck was again shuttered and Disney Vacation Club has yet to reveal any future plans for the space.

Prior to COVID-19, the lounge and outdoor deck were open most nights to any DVC members staying at Walt Disney World. The lounge would open several hours before the theme park's scheduled fireworks display, and remain open for a time afterward. Inside the lounge, guests could purchase both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with a small selection of appetizers.

Guest demand tended to peak right around the scheduled fireworks time. Limited seating in the lounge prompted some to arrive early, but lack of other amenities and services limited the appeal of the space.

The lounge was previously used during daytime hours for guest activies including wine tasting and  "Painting with a View." Disney has experimented with a series of private parties and fireworks viewing meal packages, seemingly receiving lukewarm response from members.
