Hawaii Groundbreaking On Target For 11/19

It has been over a year since Disney announced plans to build an 800+ resort hotel / timeshare on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.  Despite rumors suggesting the project may be delayed, physical construction is set to begin on November 19, 2008.

Last month Disney representatives met with Mayor Mufi Hannemann to review plans for its project.  The resort complex will include 350 hotel rooms and 480 Disney Vacation Club timeshare units along with pools, water slides, gardens, meeting space, wedding facilities and more.

Recently reports have begun to circulate that Disney has decided to delay the Hawaii project.  Disney Vacation Club Manager of Communications Diane Hancock categorically denied that the resort project has been delayed.  The ground blessing / ground breaking ceremony is on schedule for Wednesday November 19 with construction to follow.

The resort is scheduled to open sometime in 2011.
