EPCOT Monorail Remains Unavailable as Park Hopping Resumes

WDW Vacation Planning News

Park hopping is set to return to Walt Disney World, prompting guests to reexamine transportation options. But one popular method of travel will remain unavailable.

EPCOT Monorail

Despite the Walt Disney World theme parks reopening in July 2020, the iconic monorail has yet to transport guests to-and-from EPCOT. When Disney announced that park hopping benefits would resume on January 1, 2021, there was hope that the monorail would fully return to service. Those hopes have now been dashed as the EPCOT monorail still has no projected reopening date.

Buses, boats and the Skyliner are running throughout Walt Disney World. And the monorail currently connects the Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Eligible guests can utilize any of these transportation options to move between theme parks beginning January 1.

In order to park hop, guests must first make a reservation using the Disney Park Pass system AND enter that designed park.

Beginning at 2:00pm daily, guests with park hopping privileges will be able to enter a second park. At this time, no additional reservations are required in order to park hop. However, admission may be subject to capacity restrictions.

An eligible Annual pass or Magic Your Way ticket with the Park Hopping option is required. Park hopping hours and guidelines are subject to change. Guests are encouraged to refernce the My Disney Experience app and website for details on park hopping start time and availability.
